 The 6’8″ junior standout averaged 28 points last week in victories over Cardinal Ritter and Vianney last week.

 Barnett had 24 points, nine rebounds, two assists and three steals in the Cadets’ 90-66 victory at Cardinal Ritter. He followed up with a 32-point performance against Vianney in a 76-68 victory last Friday night. Barnett hit 11 of 17 shots from the field and added 11 rebounds and two blocks.

 For the season, Barnett is averaging 18.2 points and 6.2 rebounds a game while shooting 57 percent from the field and 38 percent from 3-point range.

 Barnett is ranked among the Top 100 players nationally in the Class of 2014. He is being recruited by many NCAA Division I schools around the country.

 Senior standouts Malcolm Hill of Belleville East and Kyle Lemons of Francis Howell North entered their respective school’s record books with stellar performances on Tuesday night.

 The 6’7″ Hill became the leading career scorer at Belleville East after scoring 33 points against rival Belleville West in the first game of the Chick-fil-A Classic at East. Hill surpassed the record of former East standout Clint Sitzes, who scored 1,769 points. Hill’s 33-point performance now puts him at 1,772 points.

 The 6’3″ Lemons scored a career high 40 points to lead Howell North to a 65-55 victory over Fort Zumwalt West in Gateway Athletic Conference action. Lemon scored 25 of his 40 points after halftiime. He broke Howell North’s single-game scoring record, which was held by former standout and Saint Louis University Billiken Chris Sloan, who scored 38 points in a game against Rosary in 1997.  Senior Abby Duethman became Maryville University’s career scoring leader in women’s basketball last weekend in a victory over Bellarmine.

 Deuthman scored on a short jumper late in the Saints’ 84-63 victory to give her 1,330 points. The record was previously held by Heather Toma, who scored 1,329 points between 1987 and 1991. Duethman finished the game with 20 points and eight rebounds to lead Maryville to the GLVC victory.

 Thursday night proved to be a big one for two of the area colleges.

 Lindenwood U. head coach Brad Soderberg picked up the 300th victory of his collegiate career in the Lions’ 95-69 victory over visiting Missouri Southern.

 Guard Tyler Ressel (Borgia) scored 21 points to lead the Lions. Guard Alex Bazzell (St. Charles West) had 17 points and 13 assists while forward Richie Thompson added 17 points. Guard Darris Smith (Hazelwood West) had 16 points and seven points.

 Soderberg has also coached at Loras, South Dakota State, Wisconsin and Saint Louis University.

 The UMSL Tritons rallied from a 15-point second-half deficit to upset No. 4 Bellarmine College 87-82 in a double-overtime thriller. The victory knocked Bellarmine from the ranks of the unbeaten.

 Senior guard Josh McCoy (Fort Zumwalt South) led UMSL with 28 points, including a stretch where he scored 16 consecutive points to spark the Tritons’ rally. Senior Darian Carthan added 19 points while senior Isiah Nunn scored 17 points. UMSL improves to 8-4 while picking up its first win in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
