St. Louis Surge begins 2014 campaign with new coach Tony Condra

The St. Louis Surge are back for another exciting season of women’s semi-pro basketball in the Women’s Blue Chip Basketball League. They will begin their season on Saturday on the road against the Nebraska Strikers.

Taking over the reins for the Surge this season will be first-year head coach Tony Condra. He has been a member of the coaching staff for the past two years. Condra is well known and well-respected in area basketball circles for his work as the Assistant Director of the STL Team Adidas program, which is one of the nation’s top girls select programs. Tony has also been an assistant coach at Metro High during their powerhouse days of the mid 2000’s. He is also a top trainer to many top basketball players around the area. Joining Condra on the coaching staff as assistants are former St. Louis area legend Petra Jackson and Angela Lewis.

The Surge will once again play their home games at the Mark Twain Building on the campus on the University of Missouri-St. Louis. They will play their first home game on Saturday, June 21 against the Minnesota Black Ice. In addition to its four home games this season, the Surge will also host the regional tournament for the second consecutive year.
