Saint Louis University head women’s basketball coach Lisa Stone has announced the hiring of Jordann Plummer as assistant coach. Plummer joins the Billiken staff after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
“I am very excited to welcome Jordann Plummer to Saint Louis University as assistant women’s basketball coach,” Stone said. “Jordann grew up in St. Louis and has many recruiting ties to local high schools and coaches. She was a great college player and has grown into a very fine college coach.
“Jordann not only has local ties, but she also gained coaching experience at nearby universities SIUE and Webster,” Stone said. “She is highly organized and passionate about women’s basketball. “Jordann will assist with all aspects of recruiting, scouting of opponents, perimeter player development, practice and game preparation, and summer camps,” Stone said. “We welcome her to SLU as our mission of continued growth toward a championship continues.”
“I would like to thank Lisa Stone and the SLU administration for this wonderful opportunity,” Plummer said. “I’m extremely honored to join the Billiken family and to work with coach Stone, who is highly respected in the coaching profession. I feel I will learn from her tremendously and have an opportunity to be a part of something great within the program.
“SLU competes in a high-level conference in the Atlantic 10, and the women’s basketball program is on the right path toward becoming a dominant force,” Plummer said. “In speaking with coach Stone, I believe in her vision and the work ethic it will take to raise the program to new heights.”
Plummer was part of a coaching staff that guided SIUE to a 19-12 record and second place (13-3) in the Ohio Valley Conference last season. She helped develop guard Shronda Butts, who earned first-team All-Conference honors.
Plummer began her collegiate coaching career with a two-year stint as an assistant at Webster, where she helped lead the Gorloks to the championship game of the 2013 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament. She also coached one year in St. Louis’ Normandy school district and one summer with the Kingdom Hoops Academy AAU team in Ankeny, Iowa.
Following her graduation from Cardinal Ritter College Prep in St. Louis, Plummer was a four-year letter winner at Drake University. She was a Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman selection in 2006, an All-Conference performer in 2009 (first team) and 2010 (second team), and a Bulldogs captain as a junior and senior.
Plummer is a 2010 graduate of Drake with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She is pursuing a master’s degree in education at Greenville College.
