Former Miller Career Academy girls standout Shanity James was named the Sun Belt Conference Student Athlete of the Week after two career high performances last week.
The 5’11” James is a senior forward at Arkansas-Little Rock. She averaged 23 points and nine rebounds in games against Oral Roberts and Memphis last week. James had 24 points and 10 rebounds in a victory over Oral Roberts. She also had 22 points and eight rebounds against Memphis. It represents the two highest scoring games of her collegiate career.
For the season, James is averaging 18.3 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field, all team highs. She is currently second in the Sun Belt in scoring.
