Award-winning
sports journalist Earl Austin Jr. has been covering sports in the
St. Louis area for 20 years. He has been the sports editor of the
St. Louis American since 1995. Earl has won numerous awards
during his 11 years with the American. Believe it or not,
Earl actually played sports at the high school and college levels. He
played high school basketball at McCluer North High and
college ball at Lindenwood University in St.Charles, where he is
currently the school’s career scoring and rebounding leader. Earl
is also beginning his 17th season as the color analyst for the
Saint Louis University Billikens’ radio broadcasts.
*Earl
at Lindenwood Earl Austin Jr.was a four-year starter at Lindenwood
University from 1983-86. He graduated from Lindenwood as the
school’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder with 1,972 points
and 940 rebounds. Earl’s #41 was retired after at halftime of his
final home game in March of 1986. |
