St. Joseph's at Incarnate Word Academy(Girls Big Game of the Week)
The two perennial powers of area girls high school basketball will renew their rivalry tonight at Incarnate Word. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Incarnate Word is 18-1 and currently nationally ranked in several polls around the country. Their only loss came at the hands of nationally-ranked Chicago Whitney Young in the Martin Luther King, Jr.
Girls Shootout at North County Tech on Jan. 18. The Red Knights are led by senior forward Jazmin Hitchens.
St. Joe's checks in with a 15-5 record against a monster schedule. The Angels are tall and talented with the 6'1" sophomore Stock twins and 6'3" freshman Sydney Stipanovich leading the way.
The two teams met earlier this season in the championship game of the Visitation Holiday Tournament, with Incarnate Word taking a 57-51 victory. In the previous meeting before that game, St. Joe's defeated Incarnate Word in a Class 5 district championship game at Ritenour last season.
It should be a great game. If you plan on going, get there early. It fills up pretty quick at IWA.
