Class 4 and 5 State Recap: Incarnate Word wins Class 5 state title
Incarnate Word Academy put the finishing touches on a brilliant year of basketball by winning the Missouri Class 5 girls state championship last weekend Columbia.
The Red Knights defeated Blue Springs 52-43 to win the school’s third state championship. IWA trailed 22-20 at halftime, but took control of the game in the second half behind its trademark defensive pressure and balanced scoring.

Comets Take SNC Title: The McCluer Comets won the Suburban North Conference championship last week with a 63-57 victory over host Hazelwood Central last week. Junior guard Shaquille Boga (pictured) scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Comets, who took control of the game in the third quarter and held off a late rally by the Hawks. Whitfield High senior Julian Johnson recently became the school’s all-time leading scorer. Johnson broke the scoring record on Tuesday, Feb. 15 when he scored nine points in Warriors’ victory over Waterloo Gibault, giving him 1,736 points.
