Prep school point guard Jordair Jett became the latest member of the Billikens' 2010 recruiting class by signing a national letter-of-intent to attend SLU.

A native of Minneapolis, Minn., the 6'2" Jett attended Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Mass. during the 2010 season. He averaged 14 points a game to lead Notre Dame Prep to a 27-7 record.

Before coming East to prep school, Jett was an All-State performer at St. Bernard's High in Minneapolis. As a senior, Jett averaged 20 points a game in leading St. Bernard's to a 28-4 record and a berth in the state-championship game.

The 200-pound Jett is a muscular point guard who will bring even more depth to the Billikens' backcourt, which returns starters Kwamain Mitchell, Kyle Cassity, Christian Salecich, Femi John as well as Paul Eckerle, who will return to action for his senior season.

Jett will join a talented freshman class that also includes 6'1" guard Mike McCall and 6'5" forward Dwayne Evans from Chicago and 6'11" power forward Rob Loe from New Zealand.

In other SLU news, freshman forward Jon Smith will transfer after being granted a release from head coach Rick Majerus. The 6'5" Smith started five games in 2010, averaging 2.5 points and 2.8 rebounds a game. Smith also blocked 32 shots while shooting 58 percent from the field.

Jon was one of the most impressive athletes on the team. He enjoyed his best stretch of basketball during the early part of January, starting with an 11-point performance at Bowling Green and a string of solid performances at the beginning of Atlantic 10 Conference play. Jon did some real exciting things during the season. One play that I'll remember was our game at George Washington near the end of regulation when he rose in a crowd and threw down a two-handed tip-dunk in a crowd of GW players with 30 seconds left to break a tie game.

With his length and tremendous athletic ability, Jon still has a big upside at the college level. I wish the young man well in his future basketball endeavors.
