SLU recruits McCall and Evans headline local All-Star Game on Saturday

Future Saint Louis University Billikens Mike McCall and Dwayne Evans will be in St. Louis on Saturday evening to participate in the Dr. Pepper Midwest All-Star Classic at Harris-Stowe State University. McCall and Evans are just two of the many top players in the Midwest region that will play in this three-game event, which will take place at the Emerson Performance Arena. SLU fans will get an early opportunity to see their future Billikens in action.

SLU recruiting prospect Rob Loe to play in Nike Hoop Summit

International basketball standout Rob Loe of New Zealand has been selected to play in the 2010 Nike Hoop Summit. Loe, a 6’11” center, who has Saint Louis University among his final list of schools, will play for the World Team against a group of top players from the United States. The Hoop Summit will be played Saturday, April 10 at the Rose Garden in Portland. ...

Billikids make CBI Tournament: Will face Indiana State in First Round

Well, our bid to the National Invitational Tournament never came, but the Billikens will still be playing postseason basketball. SLU (20-11) was picked to play in the third annual College Basketball Invitational (CBI). The Billikens will host Indiana State (17-11) in thefirst round on Tuesday night at the Chaifetz Arena. Tip-off is at 8 p.m. The winner will play either Akron or Wisconsin-Green Bay on the secondround next Monday. If we win, I think we will be at home again....

Billikens earn postseason honors

Several Saint Louis U. players earned postseason recognition from the Atlantic 10 Conference at the conclusion of the season. Sophomore guard Kwamain Mitchell was voted to the All Atlantic 10 Second Team after an outstanding regular season. Mitchell averaged a team-high 16 points a game to go along with his 85 assists and 41 steals and his penchant for dramatic shots in the clutch. ...

Four St. Louis area teams are still in the hunt for state titles as thesmall schools take center stage at the upcoming Class 2 and 3 statechampionships in Columbia.Area powers Cardinal Ritter and Whitfield will meet in a big Class 3 state semifinal showdown on Thursday at the Mizzou Arena. Tip-off is at 3:20 p.m. It will be the second meeting between the two schools.Whitfield won the first game 77-65 over Ritter in the WhitfieldTournament at the beginning of the season....

The Billikids received a tough education in postseason basketball,courtesy of the Rhode Island Rams on Friday in Atlantic City.Rhody's 63-47 victory over SLU in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10Tournament made our stay in Atlantic City very brief and quite painful.The Rams brought plenty of fire and energy to the game and we neverresponded to their intensity on both ends of the floor. Rhody grabbed 17offensive rebounds, scored 20 points off of our turnovers and playedarguably their best defensive game of the season....

SLU’s 69-59 victory over Duquense on Saturday night at the Chaifetz Arena was not for the faint of heart. The Billikens had to fight and claw for this hard-fought Atlantic 10 victory against a hot Duquesne team that was on a late-season surge. Billikids Rally Falls Short: Xavier wins 73-71

Saint Louis University’s six-game winning streak came to an end on Wednesday night when Xavier pulled out a 73-71 thriller at the Chaifetz Arena. For the fifth time in six games, the Billikens fell behind an opponent by double-digits, only to fight back and get back into the game. This time, the rally fell short as X held on to run their Atlantic 10 record to 11-2 and 20-5 overall. The Billikids fell to 9-4 in A-10 play and 18-8 overall....
